Pearl Harbor Attack

This course will help students more fully understand the causes behind the Imperial Japanese Navy aerial and submarine attack on the U.S. Pacific Fleet in Hawaii on Sunday, Dec 7, 1941; consider the foreign policy of the two nations leading to war; and evaluate the effectiveness of U.S. civilian and military leadership. The goal is to gain insight and consider revisionist history.

Instructor Bio

Commander Mark Anderson, US Navy, retired and served 28 years in the U.S. Navy and Naval Reserve, including sea service on five combatant ships. He qualified as a Surface Warfare Officer and later earned a diploma in strategy and policy from the U.S. Naval War College (nonresident). He served as a naval historian at the Navy Heritage and History Center for five years.
