Step into an ominous world of witches, warfare, murder, and madness this season at the Blackfriars Playhouse with Shakespeare’s The Tragedy of Macbeth, a relentless examination of the darkest depths of the human condition. This twisted tale begins with a supernatural prophecy that sets in motion a bloody course of events for Macbeth and his Lady as they descend into treachery and turmoil.
Note: Four classroom sessions will meet at RappCE at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, October 22 and 29, November 5 and 12. Participants will ride in carpools or a passenger van to Staunton, VA, on a selected date, tentatively Sunday, November 17, for a 2 p.m. performance. Enrollees may purchase tickets to the performance at the first class for approximately $60-$70. Copies of the play will be ordered and purchased before the first class as needed.
Instructor Bio
Kathleen Grove has been an educator for 50+ years, teaching English at the middle and high school levels, directing curriculum and instruction as Assistant Superintendent in ArlingtonPublic Schools, serving as Head of School at Wakefield Country Day School, and serving as interim Superintendent for Rappahannock County Public Schools.
